I grew up near the sea, well, the English Channel to be precise; Torbay in Devon in the United Kingdom.
I always love going to the beach or the coast, it brings back memories of happy times when I was a child. I love smelling that salty tang on the air as I get nearer to the sea. I love hearing the sound of the waves as they ‘shush’ with the ebb and flow of the tide. Even the cry of gulls (I recently learned that they’re not seagulls because they’re not sea birds, they’re actually land birds.) can pluck the nostalgia chords.
