Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not one for religious buildings, symbols, paraphernalia, rituals, mysticism, and well … you get the picture. But this little wooden church on Hamilton Island, off the Queensland coast near Bowen and sheltered from the Pacific by the Great Barrier Reef, caught my eye. Perhaps if more churches were like this, instead of imposing maudlin granite monstrosities with gargoyles and spiky bits all over them, more people would enjoy going to those buildings more regularly.
